Cookie Policy

Last updated September 13, 2026.

Short version: Aetherbound itself sets no cookies, and doesn't run any advertising or cross-site tracking. Signing in and our traffic analytics are both handled by third parties, described exactly below — neither one profiles you across other sites, which is why we still don't show a cookie-consent banner.

What we do store in your browser

One item of our own, via localStorage rather than a cookie — it never leaves your device and isn't sent to us on requests:

NamePurposeTypeLifetime
reduceMotionRemembers your "reduce motion" accessibility preference between visitslocalStorage (not a cookie)Until you clear site data

Sign-in (Clerk)

If you sign in, Clerk — our authentication provider — sets its own session cookies on its own domain (clerk.aetherbound.online) to keep you signed in. These are strictly necessary for sign-in to function at all; no consent prompt is required for them under GDPR/ePrivacy (they're not used for advertising or analytics), but we're listing them here rather than burying them under a generic "third-party services" line.

Analytics (Cloudflare Web Analytics)

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see aggregate traffic (page views, rough visitor counts). It's cookieless by design — Cloudflare doesn't set any cookie or persistent identifier, doesn't fingerprint your device, and can't track you across other sites. That's also why it needs no consent banner: there's no personal data being collected to consent to.

Fonts

Typefaces load from Google Fonts. Google's font-serving CDN doesn't set tracking cookies for font requests, but your browser does make a direct request to fonts.googleapis.com/fonts.gstatic.com to fetch them, which is a normal, unavoidable part of using a hosted font.

Changes

If that ever changes — if a future feature genuinely needs a cookie — this page will say so, with what it's for and how to opt out, before it ships.
